Geoffrey S. Berman is a litigation partner and head of Fried Frank’s White Collar Defense, Regulatory Enforcement & Investigations Practice, resident in the New York office. Mr. Berman also serves on the Firm’s Governance Committee.

His practice focuses on representing clients in connection with a wide range of white-collar matters, regulatory and internal investigations, and complex commercial litigation.

Prior to joining Fried Frank, Mr. Berman served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he oversaw the investigation and litigation of all criminal and civil cases brought on behalf of the United States in the Southern District of New York. He supervised an office of about 230 Assistant US Attorneys, who handle a high volume of some of the nation’s most important cases, including domestic and international terrorism, international sanctions violations, national security threats, white collar crime, healthcare fraud, securities and commodities fraud, public corruption, cybercrime, money laundering, sex trafficking, narcotics and arms trafficking, gang violence, organized crime, and civil rights violations. During Mr. Berman’s tenure, his office coordinated with dozens of domestic and international law enforcement and regulatory entities, including agencies in Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom. Additionally, in partnership with the US DOJ’s Antitrust Division, Mr. Berman served as a member of the Procurement Collusion Strike Force (PCSF) with a primary focus on deterring, detecting, investigating and prosecuting antitrust crimes, such as bid-rigging conspiracies and related fraudulent schemes.
