Laura S. Pruitt, a Partner in the Financial Markets practice at Jones Day, previously served as senior counsel in the SEC’s General Counsel’s Office and as special counsel in the Office of the Chief Counsel in the SEC’s Division of Trading & Markets. Since that time, she has focused her practice on representing broker-dealers and other market participants on issues arising under the federal securities laws and SRO rules. Among other things, she advises clients on compliance with their myriad regulatory obligations, including, among others, Regulations NMS, SHO and ATS, and FINRA rules. Formerly a litigator, she also represents clients in connection with regulatory examinations, investigations and enforcement actions brought by regulatory authorities. Ms. Pruitt has been recognized as a top practitioner in Chambers USA since 2010 in the area of broker-dealer compliance (nationwide). She received her A.B. from Harvard University and her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
