Partner, Jones Day

Beth Heifetz heads Jones Day’s Issues & Appeals Practice. She litigates complex cases in federal and state appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, and trial courts across the country. She has successfully representing clients in significant constitutional, tax, securities, antitrust, insurance, and bankruptcy matters. In the U.S. Supreme Court Beth represented clients on issues including the First Amendment, federal constitutional challenges to state taxes, predatory behavior in the antitrust context, and state regulation of federally chartered banks. Significant recent experience includes representing the City of Detroit in its bankruptcy, representing holders of Puerto Rico issued bonds in takings claims and other litigation under PROMESA, and representing government contractors in False Claims Act cases.

Beth served as law clerk to Judge Abner Mikva of the U.S Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit and to Justice Harry A. Blackmun of the U.S. Supreme Court.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and her law degree, cum laude, from the NYU School of Law.  Beth previously co-chaired the Appellate Practice Committee and the Pro Bono Committee of the American Bar Association’s Litigation Section. By Presidential appointment, Beth served on the Council of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (2013-2016).
